Painting, Party Prep and Picnicking

Well not actual picnicking... but afternoon tea with jelly and ice cream is just as nice!
I played at 50s-ness. My friend needed a make-up model again and I did my own hair.
I've been getting ready for my NYE party - the theme is Mexican Fiesta!
My friends and I also made Senor Cactus. He will eventually have super awesome mustachios and be filled with candy!
Finally - this is what happens when I get bored...
...scary scary things...

Recently I have been alive

Scene kid wannabes? That's something of a tautology really! We do SO enjoy playing dress ups though.

I was a model for my friend's make-up trials.
I wound up looking like this. I LOVE the eyes, but I think the lips are a little intense - they don't really suit me. Especially as I generally prefer matte tones on my mouth. This is a bit too glossy.I was also her practice model for hair colour. I have some slices of a gorgeous pinky red underneath and a "global" deep red.She styled it too.
Adelaide has been beautifully stormy. It is the best summer ever so far, in my opinion.

I made a tasty pasta bake. All tuna and cheese and goodness. I ate far too much of it though.
How could I not!
I've been spending some time with my mum. Her house is light and clean and I can relax there. Also I can steal the internet. Mmmmm... internet...
I'm not a huge fan of tagging. This however, is nice.

Makes so much sense

Life seems to be treating me well. Maybe I'm just happy today though. I got to hang out with some of the girls from school - photos in another post soon. I met a new boy who is nice. I got to make pancakes for people again and I finished a dress for Kathryn; she looked stunning in it.

I've been drawing odd little things. My sketchbook is predominately filled with dress designs and pattern drafts. The interspersion of life drawing and quaint characters makes me feel like I should have two books maybe...

Kitten is adorable as usual. Many photos, all the time.
Like her schleeping on mah iPhone ^_^ *dies*
Sometimes I worry about her though...
...mostly when she feigns decapitation.

The camera is not always welcome either.

The last of my cookies got eaten. This is the prettiest one. The whole having your cake (or in this case cookies) and eating them too is very challenging. I guess if you don't eat it though, it goes stale.

Philly and Adrian turned up for an unexpected floor party. I think they had other intentions when they arrived... drunk boys will be boys? Ugh needless to say, I was not about to participate in whatever they thought was going to happen. I did laugh in their faces though... politely.

A "friend" of mine chose to present me with this little gem of pleasantness. Some people are so sweet...
I think it says more about his issues than it does about me.

This crow is cool. He was hanging out with the seagulls at the beach, they didn't like him. I'll be friends with you Beach-Crow!

Moonbaking and Bloodletting

Naughty Sara took me on a late night adventure! She bought me... late dinner/early breakfast? Whatever a 2am meal is called.
There were banana smoothies.
Pancakes, bacon and wonder. We also went to the beach, for the weather at 3am was fiiiiiiine. I did not get home until 5:30!

Then Amy and baby Owen came over in the afternoon.
We ate too much super cheese pizza. Double feta, double mozzarella, double we are so never going to be thin.

Then another spontaneous adventure occurred. Our intention was to feed ducks... instead, on a whim...

Here I am looking a bit grim. Apparently I have become squeamish since I last gave blood!
The finished product.
I had to come home and have Kitten snuggles and listen to The Beatles. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is a good way to get your bouncity bounce back.

It's too darn hot...

Things look up when you have amazing friends. Friends that distract you by making you kill spiders with a mop. Any distraction is good actually. Feeding seagulls and drinking watermelon juice at the bay, party planning, movies, picnics - wow, why was I sad?

It's so hot here at the moment though. I've been staying in bed and swanning about in beach-wear. It's the only solution in my opinion.
The poor kitten isn't coping terribly well either - she's all floppy and panting. We had a water fight earlier, so cute and fun.

Kittens can play dress ups too...
...or just get in the way when I'm playing.

Le sigh at my life though - this is my food for the next two weeks. When this is gone - I gots NOTHING! Oh well. I shall eat like a queen until then!

Dress up = cheer up?

How to kill time? I'm putting off lunch, and waiting to see the results of my first ever attempt at fake tan. I'm hungry now, but if I'm not hungry in 30 minutes I'll wait until 4ish for food. It's totally a sensible plan.

I've had an uneventful few nights. Not to say they weren't fun - they were. There was drinking and dress ups and diversions from depression.

Apparently I've redeveloped my obsession with burlesque.
Or with looking something like a gothic fembot...

Either way, I've been having a lovely time. I seem to have so much more fun dressing up and playing games at home than I do going out.

Admittedly I may have been drowning my sorrows a little too enthusiastically. I've been dwelling on something, that, for the last few weeks has left me smiling, inspired, hopeful and filled with excitement; but now brings me to the verge of tears and cringing regret if I let my mind rest there, even momentarily. I really just fuck everything up. It's what I'm best at.

Here's a happy note - my house is beautiful. Occasional, light based modern art.

Sure would be swell if I were as happy as I pretend...

Kitten makes life so good. I absolutely adore her. To be honest I'd imagined her to be replaceable but I'm actually getting quite attached. It's nice to feel like something wants me around and she's always so happy to see me.

Plus she's just so squishy and cute :3

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, but only when I have people to share it with. I love going out for breakfast or having it on the balcony. I had a small impromptu party on Wednesday night and a few people crashed at my house. I got up early and made pancakes for them.

I've been sewing heaps, but a semi failed project has left me feeling disheartened. Maybe it was other things. I don't know.
I did design and make a great skirt and dress for my friend Kathryn though. I'm quite proud.

Thursday is the new Saturday and Sangria Hat parties are the new... well they're new! And fun! I didn't even know I liked sangria, but it was delightful. Many friends, flowers in our hair, Herb Alpert and Tijuana Brass - what better way to spend a day... except to end it with dress ups, dancing and destruction.
